conversations with jack...
Scene: I called Jack after daycare to check in and see how his day went
Mom: Hey Bubba, how was your day at school?
Jack: Good…hey Mommy, I was a good boy today!
M: Oh I’m so proud of you Jack! Thanks for being a good boy.
J: Yeah…you can get me a present for that!
M: (laughing) Oh really…well aren’t you a good boy everyday?
J: Yeah, and you can get me a present everyday!

in stride...
I love, love, love that I caught Jim and Jack locked together in stride...in one another's exact footsteps...
Jim is always saying how he wishes the kids looked more like him (unfortunately, the “Christman nose” and face shape are solely my doing), but I think my features are just a tad bit overtaking. I even think that Jack has been cursed with my textured hair (major boo because Jim’s hair is perfectly straight and smooth…hopefully Lila will inherit that...fingers crossed).
As time goes on, I see more of Jim in them: his eyelashes, his athleticism, his sense of humor...but my goofy smile…

Jack: The Best Big Brother
Jack takes his role as big brother very seriously...he's always looking for ways to help. He loves to hold her (can you tell by the look on her face that she loves when her big brother holds her?! I can almost hear her thinking, "Seriously, Mom? Don't go too far!")
and is very insistent that we "...let go now..." when it's his turn to hold her. Of course our hands are never far away in case we need to make an emergency "catch"!
He's so sweet with her and it makes me so proud of my big, little boy! He loves to give her seemingly endless kisses (I wonder where he gets that from!)

Plus, he loves him some Lila sandwich...pictures to come!

Firsts: Day of Daycare Together
Jack and Lila had their first day of daycare together! We're getting used to our new morning routine (so far) and it makes me happy to know that they are both at "school" together.
The few times I checked on Lila she was doing very well, and they told me what a "wonderful" and "easygoing" baby she was...which almost made me want to cry I was so proud and happy!

accessorizing
I've jumped on the legwarmer-bandwagon...(note: I've been a steady fan of the legwarmers for myself for quite some time...but I'm a newcomer to the baby-legwarmer fan club!) Lila was all dressed up my fav Madonna onesie (thanks Ryan and Lindsey!), and I felt she needed just a bit more. Enter, Halloween legwarmers...
Next, enter tutu (because a tutu goes with everything!) This look got me thinking that maybe she'll be an 80s chick for Halloween instead of a princess...

my boy
love you...
At one glance I love you with a thousand hearts. –Mihri Hatun
Lila slept through the night again last night, but I think Jack sensed that I was getting too much rest or something because he didn’t have a great night sleep. He was in my bed at 12:30 and woke up ready to go at 5! Funny thing is that today was the day he could sleep in because Nani is on Lila-duty today and planned on keeping him home…hopefully they all get some rest today! Between the two of them, they keep me on my toes!

Firsts: Sleeping Through the Night!
Boo ya! Little Miss Lila slept through the whole night last night!!! Wha?! I woke up at 5:30 and was a bit disoriented because she was still sound asleep. From 9:30 to 5:30, my little angel didn’t make a peep! I was super proud. Hopefully she’ll be starting a trend :-)
I’m back at work now, which makes my stomach turn every morning when I have to leave Jack and Lila. It’s good to be back into the routine and all, but I hate, hate, hate leaving them behind, and waking Jack up early, and dragging them out when it’s cold and dark outside…but it’s what we gotta do for now.
Last night, after my first day back at work, I had zero desire to cook or do dishes or really do anything except hold Lila and kiss on Jack (which I hope will not get on his nerves anytime soon because covering his face with kisses keeps me going!)
So right now, although I’m super excited that Lila is sleeping so well, I’m also missing both of my babies too much to be of real use. I know it will get easier and the hurting feeling will subside, so for now, my thoughts of them will get me through the days. That and their smell. Before I leave Lila, I smell her head for a good 5 minutes, and it’s just enough until I walk in the door after work…just enough.
