Lauging out Loud

There's nothing better than his whole-hearted belly-laughs!

Oh, except maybe for his goofy, "CHEESE" smile...which always makes me smile...

Seriously, I love it so much, I have to post the picture again...

Orange-Ya Glad!

We’re full-fledged into the second trimester, and feeling good. #2 is the size of an orange…and not even one of those Clementine’s I’ve been scarfing: a nice, big naval orange: 4 inches!

The most exciting part is that in about 4 weeks, we will know what exactly we’re having (as long as #2 cooperates during “picture time”!). I can’t wait, so I can finally start thinking about the bedroom colors, names, clothes…so excited!

Good thing I have about 173 days to do it (yes, Care, I added a ticker at the side for an exact count). Of course I have my Excel spreadsheet that I’ve over-analyzed my pregnancy with, but this is a little more pleasing to the eye…

Valentine's Cupcakes!

Jack’s school was having their Valentine’s party today, so I decided to make cupcakes for all his friends (and girlfriends!). The real trick was hiding these from Jack all night because as soon as he sees a cupcake, it’s-all-over!

I made personalized cards to stick in each cupcake (with the help of some adorable fonts from Fonts for Peas! These were my favorite part!

I know 2 and 3 year olds won’t fully appreciate the cuteness, but I’m positive they’ll enjoy the...wait-for-it.... 'sweetness'! ;-)

Snow day!

Yesterday after work, we took advantage of the first good snow of the season! I was determined to play in the snow and build a snowman. I had my mind set.

Unfortunately, the wind-chill kept our snowy adventure short and snowman-less (it was bitter cold!), but Jack didn’t seem to mind.
He learned to make a snowball...
I even put the boys to work shoveling the driveway. I think one had more fun than the other, apparently 'pretend' shoveling is more fun than 'real' shoveling!

The one, lone picture of Jack and I. I do exist, I'm just normally behind the camera!

As you can see, he thoroughly enjoyed the cold. In fact, it was hard to get him to come inside. We had to lure him with hot (lukewarm) chocolate...and soon his rosy cheeks returned to a nice peachy color again.

Speaking of cheeks, check out the before and after! Poor little guy!
But he did have fun...now if only the weather would warm up to like the high 20s we could really enjoy the snow! :)

hello weekend

Ohhhh, this weekend could not have come any sooner! It's been one of those weeks.

Jack's officially in the 2-3 year old room. They use cups without lids! It's kind of a big deal! He has two best friends which makes me smile, and according to him, he has "cereal and cookies" for lunch everyday: who wouldn't like that!?!

Nani and Papa are off tomorrow for lovely Mexico! Jack is very excited that they are going on an airplane, and even attempted to sneak into Nani's suitcase 2 days early, but we'll sure miss them!

In other news, I am now 13 weeks pregnant and officially into my second trimester! I'm feeling less tired, and excited to see that little one is the size of a peach this week!

That sounds big! But when I pulled out my ruler, I realize that I must be eating giant peaches or something because 2.9 inches sounds little for a peach! : ) Is that just me?!

Happy weekend.

My chair!

As promised, here are pictures of my rescued chair! You might look at these pictures and think, “This woman’s hormones have seriously messed up her judgment!” And I’ll admit, it’s not 'porch-ready'…yet! But it will be…I see potential!

I’m still debating on whether or not I want to sandblast my new find (to clean off the rust) and repaint it, or to keep it vintage-looking and just “Make it work!” like Tim Gunn says!

Decisions, decisions!

I have a problem...

Jack woke up at 2:30. That was not the problem.

After that, my mind was up and active, and all of a sudden, I remembered that my neighbor (3 houses down on the other side of the street) put out an adorable, vintage, white/rusty iron rocking chair. When I first saw it, I thought, "That’s cute." and went about my way.

But all of a sudden, at 2:30 in the morning, I HAD to have that chair. In my mind, I debated on whether I would repaint it a shiny new white, or leave the rusty-vintage look because it adds character. And then I thought about this outdoor chair cushion from Marshall’s that I’d been eyeing forever, but I’ve never had anywhere to put it.

I wanted that chair. I needed that rusty, old chair. I asked Jim if he would get it (since he was up ready to leave for work) and he said he would when he got home. But by then, I just knew someone else would take my treasure (probably the trash man!). I knew I could not sleep until I had it!

So, what’s a pregnant lady to do at 3 in the morning on a cold winter’s night when she cannot rest until she gets what she wants?

Well, I put on my ballet-flat slippers, my jacket, and walked 3 houses down on the other side of the street to get MY chair! I lugged it back, and felt an immediate relief that I could get some sleep for the night! Jim’s shock-and-awe look was followed by “What are you doing?!” as I politely asked him to move my new treasure into the garage on his way out. :)

Now, I can’t wait for Spring: when I can sit on the back deck in my vintage-rusty rocking chair. I’ll even throw in a glass of lemonade (which I’ve been drinking by the gallon lately!) to rest on my white Antique Mall side table from my mom! Perfect!

Note: I was going to take a picture of my new rocker, but neither 3 nor 6 AM seemed appropriate photo shoot times. I’ll post one ASAP!

PS: I wonder if I’ll still love my chair as much in the light of the day!?! Was it worth it?
