She takes after her dad...

So I’ve been feeling very frustrated that baby girl still isn’t here. I know it’s still 10 days from her due date, but it’s different this time.

Jack was 21 days early, and obviously I was not prepared for him to come. I don’t think anything can fully prepare you for your first child. So we didn’t have the car seat installed or bags packed…but looking back, it was nice that there was no period that I was stuck anxiously waiting for something to happen.

This time around, I’m prepared: mentally, physically…everything’s ready (except her name!). Every night I clean up the house as if we will have guests, and when I crawl into bed I think, “This could be the night…” and I practice saying the date in my head “7/27/10…7/28/10…”, but every morning I wake up and think, “DAMN! She still didn’t want to come yet.”

And I know I should be trying to enjoy the last few days of (somewhat uninterrupted) sleep, and downtime, and life as we know it now…but.I.can’t.

And then I think, she’s TOTALLY her father’s daughter! Jim isn’t a “rusher”…he’s more of a “dawdler”. He’s always asking me why I have to hurry through everything…and I’m always asking him why everything takes him soooo loooong… It’s the combination of our paces that make it work.

But for now, I will try to practice patience, and hope that she’s like her father in more ways too: his sense of humor, his attitude, his eyelashes and hair :-), his athleticism, his calm manner…

But honestly, I mean, there’s got to be part of me, in her, in me ;-) that is ready to get this show on the road, right!? :-) I need to find more flowers to make or something to keep me busy!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Happy birthday, to...
my best guy...

the bearded man...
the cowboy...
the best Daddy...
and guys'-guy...
the joker...
and friend...

Love you so, so much! Jack is so excited to celebrate, that he made you a birthday cake out of a hamburger and french fries (100% on his own!) and proceeded to sing "Happy Birthday..." He must really love you!

Mustache-Montage!

For Halloween, Jim and I were co-pilots...and to keep his part authentic, Jim grew a mustache! I felt it only appropriate to document the 1.5 days of "the 'stache" with plenty of pictures.

Without further ado, I give you... Jim's Mustache-Montage!

(During the "growing out" phase...he rocked the beard for a good week and a half!)

Hmmm, this looks like Jim's model pose that he SO loves to do!

It was fun (funny) while it lasted, but it was gone the first chance he could get...now I'll just have to think of more costumes that involve mustaches in the future for 3 reasons:
#1: I personally like the "growing out" phase.
#2: I think his 'stache is hilarious, and somewhat creepy.
#3: I like to watch him be uncomfortable and slightly embarassed in public.
Love you! 24~15

Stump-grinding in Style!

Jim decided to undertake the project of grinding the 2 stumps we had left in our yard…no mind that this is roughly 2 months after the actual trees were cut down :)
As Jack and I are watching him from the window, I realize that with dangerous woodchips flying everywhere, Jim is protecting himself by closing his eyes (smart thing to do while operating a high-powered tool!).

To the rescue, I loan Jim my sweet (girly) glasses (and smile) as he continues to grind the stumps…in style!
It takes a real man to operate a power tool with accessories!

oh, jim!

My husband makes me laugh...

J: "You know I was thinking...since we've been together, I think I've really expanded your culinary palette."

J: (laughing) "Why? Because I eat mustard now?"

J: "Well, yeah. That, and bratwurst...and cereal..."

LOL! Oh, Jim...thank you for introducing me to mustard, brats, and cereal...how would I have ever survived without your culinary expertise!
PS: How was that fried twinkie Mr. Food-Network-Junkie?!

just because...(jim)

Just because...sometimes Jim thinks he's model...

...and sometimes I agree (but don't tell him!)

And I play along (because it's fun!)

And just because he's SO GQ! (I'm stifling a laugh in this picture!)

Even when he asks me to pluck his eyebrows...
