conversations with jack...

Scene: I called Jack after daycare to check in and see how his day went

Mom: Hey Bubba, how was your day at school?
Jack: Good…hey Mommy, I was a good boy today!
M: Oh I’m so proud of you Jack! Thanks for being a good boy.
J: Yeah…you can get me a present for that!
M: (laughing) Oh really…well aren’t you a good boy everyday?
J: Yeah, and you can get me a present everyday!

Tutu Kachoo

I'm "Tutu-ing" it up this week, because...why not?! I put Jack through the trouble of being my mannequin...what can I say, I needed a size estimate and to know that this does look cute on an actual person and the effort was not all in vain...
This is for my niece Ava's b-day and I'm super pumped about it! I kinda want to make one in my size for Halloween, or Saturday night, or something! But alas, I'll stick to kids sizes for now! Look out Lila, you'll probably be wearing a lot of homemade tutu's!!
And I know Jack looks like a ballerina here (I posed him) and will someday kill me for #1 making him do this, #2 taking this picture, and #3 showing it to the world, but if that's the worst I do this week, than that's okay by me...
Off to make more tutus, and take Lila to the Dr!

intimidation!

Jack's favorite game to play with Daddy is "Blue-42". It's a combination of wrestling/football/jumping...basically, a slightly dangerous game that has caused minor bumps and bruises on both Jim and Jack, but in the end...it's Jack's favorite and he always jumps right back up to play. I caught them in the act the other day and had Jack show me his "Scary Face"...
To play the game, one of the boys with yell, "Blue-42...blue-42, GRover, set, hut-hut, hike" and then run to tackle the other. It's pretty entertaining! (Jim's trying to work on Jack's form tackling and teaching him not to lead-in with his head...it's a work in progress...)

If that isn't the cutest scary face I've ever seen! Let's just say that in 15 years when he flashes this scary face on the football field, I think his opponents will KNOW intimidation...
or something like that...

ummmm...

I swear, we put him down for a nap with a diaper ON!

And yet, somehow, this is what I saw when I checked on him halfway through his nap…hmmm, looks like someone was a little restless (I blame the time change, and maybe a boy thing!)

Luckily, he didn’t have any accidents in his bed, and he woke up a happy boy…which is all I can ask for on a typical Sunday (minus an hour!) Check out my fav. cheesey smile...actually, I can't really tell if he's saying, "CHEESE" or asking for a Cheez-It, but it's cute, none-the-less!

T-minus 28.5 hours until we find out if we go team blue or team pink... :)

Lauging out Loud

There's nothing better than his whole-hearted belly-laughs!

Oh, except maybe for his goofy, "CHEESE" smile...which always makes me smile...

Seriously, I love it so much, I have to post the picture again...

Photo-Op

While visiting the playground on an unseasonably-warm Fall day, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take some pictures.

I felt the results perfectly illustrate why I take pictures the way I do. I SNAP-SNAP-SNAP in a rapid-fire succession while doing anything to draw Jack’s attention to the camera. (most people Jim is highly annoyed by this!) BUT, this is why I take roughly 100 pictures on any given day; because if I take 100, chances are at least 1 will be a perfect, smiley keeper! That's a 1% chance people...

But, the “outtakes”, well, their gems in their own right…

Here's Jack demonstrating his new "Funny Face"! Oh I just love it, but he thinks he's supposed to do this whenever he's in front of a camera now....uh oh!

Ahhhhhhhh!

Mustache-Montage!

For Halloween, Jim and I were co-pilots...and to keep his part authentic, Jim grew a mustache! I felt it only appropriate to document the 1.5 days of "the 'stache" with plenty of pictures.

Without further ado, I give you... Jim's Mustache-Montage!

(During the "growing out" phase...he rocked the beard for a good week and a half!)

Hmmm, this looks like Jim's model pose that he SO loves to do!

It was fun (funny) while it lasted, but it was gone the first chance he could get...now I'll just have to think of more costumes that involve mustaches in the future for 3 reasons:
#1: I personally like the "growing out" phase.
#2: I think his 'stache is hilarious, and somewhat creepy.
#3: I like to watch him be uncomfortable and slightly embarassed in public.
Love you! 24~15

Playing Dress Up!

It was an on-the-move, so-much-to-do weekend! Jack’s cousin Ava, Aunt Jennie, and Gramma from KC came to visit him for Halloween!

I have so much to share, but today is all about the dragon! Unfortunately, I did not manage to get a picture of Hannah Montana in her wig/costume, but I have plenty of Ms. Ava to come!

Papa, look out! A dragon’s attacking you!
Oh wait, that’s just Jack…making over sized lizards everywhere jealous of his cuteness!

And here’s Jack with both of his Grandma’s…love!
On the grown-up side, Carey and Jason (the hosts-with-the-mosts) celebrated the holiday with their second annual party! Here they are as Raggedy Anne and Andy…

Jim and I were pilots!

And his sister was the St. Paulie's girl!

We also had Carmen Sandiego (does anyone else remember the kids show Where in the World is Camen Sandiego?) and a butcher (trust me, this was much more tasteful than his costume last year!)

Adam and Eve:

Here’s me, Carey, and Jen the 80’s Rock Star (her husband, Gumby, is unfortunately not pictured!)

Dressing up is so fun! I suggest we do it more often!
I have so much more to share from this weekend, including cousin bath-time, leaf-time, play-time, night-time…and my personal favorite: A Jimbo Mustache-Montage...so stay tuned!
